The Leibniz Institute for the German Language (Mannheim), Department of Lexical Studies, has a vacancy for an
unexamined/examined (BA) student assistant
with 41 hours / month (unexamined) or 35 hours / month (BA). The position is to be filled as soon as possible and limited until 31.12.2022. The activity is part of the project „Wörter, Medien und Gesellschaft“ („Words, media, and society“) and is funded by the Leibniz Research Alliance „Wert der Vergangenheit“ („Value of the Past“).
Tasks:
- Assistance with corpus building, preprocessing and data analysis
- Setting up an annotation environment
- Data annotation
- Independent implementation of programming tasks
- General assistance tasks
Required:
- Current enrolment at a German university in computational linguistics, computer science, digital humanities, linguistics, cultural studies or related programmes
- Good programming skills (Python)
- Experience in natural language processing
- Interest in linguistic issues
- Reliability and ability to work independently
Desirable:
- Experience with machine learning methods
- Knowledge of German
Payment:
- currently 10,77 € per hour (unexamined)
- currently 12,52 € per hour (BA)
This job offers you the chance to gain work experience in a current research project, which you can combine with your studies. Mobile working within Germany is possible by arrangement.
