- 1981-1989 Lecturer in German at University of Omsk
- 1990 onwards: working on various projects at IDS, Mannheim (amongst other things, I worked on the project Linguistic integration of immigrants in Germany and German in Russia)
- 1998 Qualified as a professor in the Modern Languages Faculty at the University of HD and granted permission to teach German linguistics
- 1998 - 2000 Temporary post as C3 professor in Kiel, periods as guest lecturer in Salzburg, München, Budapest, Heidelberg und Mannheim
- 2000 - 2008: co-ordination and management of the project Variation in spoken German at IDS
- 2008 onwards: management of the project Migration linguistics
