Lexical semantic relations from theoretical and practical perspectives

The colloquium will address specific semantic, lexicographic and computational issues on a scope of meaning relations, particularly on those which have traditionally been classified as paradigmatic sense relations. Papers will explore different linguistic and methodological approaches to the construction of relations of contrast and meaning equivalence in various languages such as German, English and Swedish. They will also look at various semantic models, the use of the Internet as a lexical resource for antonymy retrieval, as well as the theory and applications of reference databases such as GermaNet. The subject of sense-related items in dictionaries will also be explored from both a technical and lexicographic perspective.
This colloquium intends to provide specialists from different disciplines and areas with the opportunity to present ongoing projects and research findings in the field. It is also aimed at stimulating dialogue and exchange of thoughts and ideas not only among experts, but as it will be open to the general public it will also offer a forum for public discussion among scholars. Das Institut für Deutsche Sprache Mannheim veranstaltet vom 5.6.-6.6. 2008 ein internationales Kolloquium zu verschiedenen theoretischen und praktischen Aspekten lexikalisch-semantischer Relationen. Dieses Kolloquium wird anhand vielfältiger Bedeutungsbeziehungen, insbesondere solcher, die traditionellerweise der Paradigmatik zugeordnet wurden, spezifischen semantischen, lexikografischen und computerlinguistischen Fragstellungen nachgehen. In den Vorträgen werden linguistische und methodologische Ansätze zur Konstruktion von Beziehungen des Gegensatzes also auch der Bedeutungsgleichheit/-äquivalenz im Deutschen, Englischen und Schwedischen vorgestellt. Im Fokus stehen aber auch unterschiedliche semantische Modelle, der Einsatz des Internets als lexikalische Ressource zur Gewinnung antonymischer Beziehungen sowie Fragen der Theorie und Anwendung von lexikalisch-semantischen Netzen wie GermaNet. Darüber hinaus werden Probleme bei der Beschreibung und Präsentation sinn- und sachverwandter Ausdrücke in Wörterbüchern aus technologischer und lexikografischer Perspektive diskutiert.
Das Kolloquium beabsichtigt, Expertinnen und Experten unterschiedlicher Fachrichtungen und Disziplinen die Möglichkeit zu bieten, gegenwärtige Forschungsprojekte und deren Ergebnisse zu präsentieren. Aber es soll ebenfalls ein Diskussionsforum sein, das alle Interessierten zu regem Dialog und Gedankenaustausch auffordert. Daher ist diese Veranstaltung öffentlich und eine Anmeldung ist nicht erforderlich.
