Third International Conference Grammar & Corpora

Section 1: Corpus-Based Grammar Research

 Deutsch

This section presents the results of corpus-based and corpus-informed research on grammar in German, English, Romance, and Slavic linguistics are presented in the section. It is envisaged to discuss, amongst other things, the following fundamental questions:

  • How do the traditional terminology and categories of description need to be expanded in order to make a processing of the mass of frequency data feasible ("from frequencies to frequency effects")?
  • How do standard or standardisation processes differ in written and spoken language?
  • What is the role of grammatical variability in cases of pluricentric languages with two or more coexistent norms?
  • What is the potential of applying corpus-based grammar descriptions in native and non-native language teaching?
  • How do innovations in corpus linguistics and corpus technology influence problems and questions of grammar research and description?

We welcome not only studies of individual languages but also contrastive and typological contributions, contributions on basic questions of corpus assembly and analysis as well as presentations of current and future projects. One important aim is to exchange information about the full spectrum of corpus-based and corpus-informed research on grammar and to stimulate a dialogue between representatives of different paradigms of research.
